Technical Benefits & FAQs
Yes, LiFePO4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate) is one of the safest and most stable lithium batteries available today. Power Queen lithium cells are UL-certified, ensuring the greatest level of safety and sustainability. Each Power Queen LiFePO4 battery incorporates a Battery Management System (BMS), which protects against a variety of risks. These include under-voltage during discharge, over-voltage when charging, over-current during discharge, over-temperature during both charging and discharging, and short-circuit events, which protect the battery cells from damage. Furthermore, Power Queen LiFePO4 batteries have been rigorously tested and found to be free of fire and electric shock dangers, even under extreme settings.
For optimal performance, keep Power Queen LiFePO4 batteries at a 50% state of charge (SOC). If the batteries will be stored for a long time, they should be cycled at least once every six months. Ideal storage temperatures vary from 10℃ to 35℃ (50℉ to 95℉), with a relative humidity of 45% to 75%.
For further details, read the article Storing LiFePO4 Batteries: A Guide to Proper Storage.
The Power Queen LiFePO4 lithium battery has roughly double the useable capacity of lead acid and AGM batteries. So, if you want more usable battery time (Amps), swap to a battery with the same (or larger) Amps. For example, replacing a 100 amp battery with a Power Queen 12V 100Ah LiFePO4 Lithium Battery yields nearly twice as many usable amps while weighing half as much. If you want a battery that is compact, lightweight, and inexpensive. Then replace the 100-amp battery with a Power Queen 12V 50Ah LiFePO4 Lithium Battery. You will get around the same number of useful amps (time), but at a lower cost and about one-sixth the weight.
Please keep in mind that owing to transit and storage, your battery may have a low State of Charge (SOC) when it arrives. To avoid overdischarge, we recommend charging the battery immediately using an AC-DC lithium battery charger or an MPPT solar charge controller.
If you plan to store the battery for an extended period of time, we recommend charging it to a state of charge (SOC) of 30% to 50% and doing maintenance every three months. These strategies will enable it to function and operate successfully in the long run.
No, Power Queen LiFePO4 lithium batteries are designed for energy storage, not for starting devices. Therefore, please do not use them to start any equipment.
For more information, refer to the article "Deep Cycle vs. Starting Battery."
No, we do not recommend using Power Queen batteries to charge portable power stations such as EcoFlow or Bluetti. This may lead to over-discharge, triggering the battery’s protection mode and causing it to remain in a low-voltage state that cannot be reactivated.
