        FAQ

        Q: When should I need a self-heating lithium battery?

        A:

Many of our customers have used this battery for winter activities like skiing and ice fishing. While you can use and discharge Power Queen lithium batteries in cold temperatures, you might want to consider a self-heating battery if you plan to charge it in freezing conditions.

Q: How does the self-heating work?

        A:

The auto self-heating function is activated by the BMS when the battery is connected to a charger and the temperature is between -20°C and 5°C (-4°F and 41°F). The heating process will stop once the battery temperature reaches 10°C (50°F).

Q: What are the differences between Self-Heating and Low-temperature protection batteries?

        A:

These two series primarily address the challenge of charging LiFePO4 lithium batteries in cold weather. The main difference between the Low-Temperature series and the Self-Heating series lies in the automatic Battery Management System (BMS) heating module. The Self-Heating series allows the battery to self-warm during charging without any user intervention. In contrast, the Low-Temperature Protection series, such as the Power Queen 12V 100Ah TM and Power Queen 12V 200Ah Plus, will automatically stop charging when the temperature falls below 0°C (32°F). To resume charging, you need to take measures like placing the battery in a warmer environment until it reaches 5°C (41°F).

For more details, read about the differences between Power Queen Low-Temperature Batteries and the Self-Heating Series.

Q: Does the lithium battery charge itself while heating?

        A:

No. The charging will start after the lithium battery heats itself to 10℃ (50℉).

Q: Can the Power Queen 100Ah self-heating lithium battery be charged while heating?

        A:

Yes, the Power Queen 12V 100Ah self-heating LiFePO4 lithium battery can discharge while it is heating, provided it has power. However, we do not recommend discharging the battery during the heating process, as this could adversely affect its performance and lifespan.
